AIR-WATER HEAT PUMP


The BIG HYDRA series high efficiency air-water heat pumps are particularly suitable for applications using radiant panel heating systems or low temperature applications such as suitably dimensioned fan-coil, thermal ventilation and AHUs for delivery temperatures of 50°C.

  • The units have been specifically designed to achieve the best efficiency in heating mode, they can operate in outside temperatures down to -20°C and produce water of up to 55°C.
  • BIG HYDRA units are available in 2 tube and a 4 tube versions, with desuperheating in summer only and in a cold only version.
  • All heat pump models are also fitted with a cycle reverse valve for the winter defrost function and an electronic expansion valve.
  • All units are equipped with internal thermal storage tank, system pump (choice of version with increased head) and safety devices.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Casing
All the units of the series are made of hot galvanized sheet metal and polyurethane powder coated and cured at 180°C to ensure best possible weather resistance. The structure is self-supporting with removable panels to make inspection and maintenance easier. All screws and rivets for outdoor installation are made of stainless steel.

Cooling circuit
The cooling circuit is made using components manufactured by leading international companies. The refrigerant gas used is R410A. The cooling circuit is fitted with an electronic expansion valve. The units are available with a desuperheater for energy recovery when operated during the summer.

Compressor
High efficiency Scroll type compressors are used. Maintenance can be carried out via the front panel of the unit that allows the compressor to be accessed even when the machine is in operation.

Source exchanger
The external heat exchangers are made of copper tubes and aluminium fins. The geometry of these heat exchangers allows a low air-side pressure drop, making it possible for low speed fans to be used (resulting in reduced machine noise).

User side exchanger
The user-side heat exchangers are of the stainless steel braze-welded plate type. Using this type of heat exchanger greatly reduces the amount of refrigerant gas used in the unit.

Fan
The wing blade axial fans are made of aluminium. They are all statically and dynamically balanced and supplied complete with a protective grille. The fans are installed on rubber vibration dampers to reduce noise.

Microprocessor
All standard units are supplied with a microprocessor controller. The microprocessor monitors all the operating parameters of the machine and the values recorded by probes and transducers. The controller can communicate with the outside using a ModBUS protocol.

Control and protection devices
The unit is provided with a series of alarms to protect it from possible faults. These are managed entirely by the control unit that makes them available and accessible. It is also possible to access the controller via the control unit if you need to make any adjustments.
